Las Vegas – A world class Equestrian destination!

The 2015 FEI (International Equestrian Federation) World Cup event will be held here in Las Vegas for the 6th time at the Thomas and Mack Events Center. This international event brings an average of  20 Million dollars of “non gaming” revenue to the city according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Bureau. 95% of those in attendance will be coming from states other than Nevada and from various countries around the world.

According to the “American Horse Council Federation” The United States Horse industry contributes approximately 40 BILLION dollars to the gross domestic product of our country’s economy. When indirect spending is factored in, that number jumps to almost 102 Billion!!

This proves my theory that people who own horses typically have higher salaries and more disposable income than others. Since Nevada has become a popular tax haven for the wealthy, it stands to reason that where their is money, there are horses..

Las Vegas has seen a huge increase in the number of horse owners in recent years with many of the top hotel and casino owners also having a big involvement, most notably is Michael Gaughan, owner of the South Point Hotel and Casino. Mr. Gaughan has developed a resort casino with a world class equestrian events center that hosts many large horse shows and exhibitions throughout the year. The National Finals Rodeo and Professional Bull Riders association are also enormously popular events that draw visitors from around the world.

There are many local ranches and privately owned equestrian estates that are very serious about their chosen discipline as well. Whether you ride dressage, jumpers, barrel racing or own prized driving horses, you are sure to find an “A” rated facility to suit your needs here in Las Vegas.

With our close proximity to top shows and events, good year round weather and very favorable economic climate, Las Vegas is an excellent destination for horse enthusiasts from around the world.
