The community gets its name from Mt. Charleston, the third-highest peak in Nevada, offering stunning views. At 11,916 feet, Charleston Peak is the highest point in Clark County.
The peak’s name, given by John C. Fremont during his exploration, pays homage to Charleston, South Carolina, his wife’s hometown. The charming town of Mount Charleston rests in a Spring Mountains valley northwest of Las Vegas with just a few hundred residents.
